The Visual Turn in Historical Sciences: Methods of Image Analysis and Interpretation.

On December 2, 2025, the Research Center for History and Culture of Central Eurasia of the Faculty of History of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University will hold an online scientific seminar jointly with Victoria Vasilyeva, a visiting professor of the Department of World History, Historiography and Source Studies of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and a visiting researcher at the Institute for Film and Audiovisual Production Studies of the Sorbonne Nouvelle University (Paris). The topic is: "The Visual Turn in Historical Sciences: Methods of Image Analysis and Interpretation."

Questions for discussion:

·        Key theoretical approaches to visual sources in contemporary historical scholarship;

·        Specifics of working with different types of visual materials;

·        The influence of visual analysis on the construction of historical narrative.
