The fourth-year students majoring in Literary Studies, under the guidance of curator-advisor Sh. A. Shortanbai, organized outdoor's discussion on the topic: “Clean Kazakhstan: Issues in Achieving an Environmentally Sustainable City” within the framework of Sustainable Development Goal 11. The meeting took place on the university campus, where participants thoroughly discussed current topics related to urban ecology. The main purpose of the meeting was to develop students’ environmental awareness, explain the key directions needed to create a sustainable and safe urban environment, and strengthen ecological responsibility within the “Clean Kazakhstan” initiative. Students addressed effective approaches to achieving an environmentally clean city, including proper urban planning, reducing household waste, promoting recycling culture, increasing green spaces, and maintaining the cleanliness of public areas. Additionally, they examined ecological challenges faced by modern cities—air pollution, heavy traffic congestion, weak waste sorting systems, and low environmental literacy among the population. Participants exchanged ideas and proposed solutions to these issues. During the discussion, participants emphasized the importance of individual responsibility, active civic engagement, and the role of government programs in ensuring environmental sustainability. Overall, the meeting enhanced students’ interest in ecological issues and provided an opportunity to exchange views aimed at developing a clean and sustainable urban environment. The event played a significant role in fostering environmental consciousness, promoting a culture of responsible attitude toward nature, and supporting the “Clean Kazakhstan” initiative.
