Ocean Conservation and Prevention of Marine Pollution

29 november, 2025

On November 29, 2025, an educational session on the topic: “Ocean Conservation and Prevention of Marine Pollution”  was conducted with the  students majoring in Tourism within the framework of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The aim of the event was to increase students’ awareness of the global issue of ocean pollution, highlight the responsibility of the tourism sector, and promote environmentally conscious behavior among future professionals.

During the session, students examined major sources of marine pollution, including plastic waste, oil spills, chemical discharges, and the negative influence of mass tourism. The participants discussed possible solutions that governments and tourism companies can implement, such as developing ecotourism, reducing single-use plastics, educating tourists, and supporting international environmental initiatives.

In group work, students analyzed real cases of ocean pollution, suggested their own solutions, and presented them in short presentations. The event helped enhance environmental responsibility, develop critical thinking skills, and motivate students to contribute to initiatives aimed at preserving global natural resources.

At the end of the event, the students performed a short song dedicated to nature and the protection of the world’s oceans. This musical moment served as a symbolic reminder that preserving our planet begins with respect for nature and personal responsibility.
