A meeting with a delegation from the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography of the Chinese Academy of Sciences was held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

Opening the event, Esbol Omirzhanov, Director of the Department of International Cooperation at KazNU, stressed that cooperation with China's leading scientific centers is one of the key areas of the university's international activities. He noted that the long-term partnership between KazNU and the Institute creates a solid foundation for the implementation of joint projects, academic exchanges and training of young researchers.

The Chinese delegation was headed by the Director of the Scientific Research Center for Ecology and Environment of Central Asia, Professor Gilili Abuduvaili. In his speech, he stressed the increasing importance of joint research in the context of global climate challenges.

During the negotiations, the parties discussed the possibilities of ecological and geographical monitoring, rational use of natural resources, as well as the provision of grants to undergraduates and doctoral students from the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Following the meeting, the parties noted the importance of an integrated approach to solving environmental problems in the region and confirmed their intention to continue deepening scientific and academic ties.
