The Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) Research Center has opened at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University at the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics.

Margulan Ibraimov, member of the Board, ViceRector for Scientific and Innovative Development, Sarsenbek Zhusupbekov, Director of the Scientific Research Center, and Almaz Sharman, President of the Kazakh Academy of Nutrition, took part in the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Vice Rector for Scientific and Innovative Development Margulan Ibraimov congratulated the participants and guests of the event on this significant event. He noted that in recent years KazNU has become a platform for major international projects, academic collaborations and interdisciplinary research. The University has established a number of research centers in the fields of artificial intelligence, digital modeling, bioengineering, sustainable technologies and smart infrastructure.

They have gained recognition both in Kazakhstan and abroad. "The opening of the Artificial General Intelligence Research Center is a logical continuation of this line of development. This is a space for research that shapes the scientific trends of the future, from high–precision data analysis systems to intelligent technologies, from applied engineering solutions to deep fundamental discoveries",- the Vice–rector emphasized. We are creating not just infrastructure, but conditions for scientists, undergraduates and doctoral students. The center will contribute to the training of new research personnel, support for young scientists, the development of scientific schools and the strengthening of the university's international presence".

Sarsenbek Zhusupbekov, Director of the Scientific Research Center, made a presentation on the AGI center, which was created in accordance with the strategic course of President K. Tokayev, who identified artificial intelligence as a national priority and set the task to accelerate the introduction of AI in all industries, strengthen domestic IT companies and turn Kazakhstan into a digital state over the next five years.

The scientific areas of the AGI Center cover a wide range: from AGI, cognitive and explicable models to biomedical analysis, causal AI and the integration of data on health, stress, nutrition, circadian rhythms, epigenetics and human activity. "The center's team has already created and is developing projects such as AmanAI, an intelligent system for the diagnosis and rehabilitation of neurodegenerative diseases, ZhurekAI, a platform for assessing cardiac risks and stress, as well as OmirAI, SenimAI and Sana, digital solutions aimed at improving health, sleep, lifestyle and well–being of the population. These products demonstrate the center's ability to transform research ideas into real, measurable and scalable solutions for medicine, industry and urban space",- Sarsenbek Zhusupbekov emphasized.

During the event, its participants and distinguished guests were able to get acquainted with the AI cluster and the resources of the research center.
