Students of the Faculty of Physics and Technology Achieved 2nd Place at the “Winter University in Engineering Sciences”. SDG 4 and SDG 9
From 24 November to 7 December 2025, the international educational intensive “Winter University in Engineering Sciences” was held at Samara National Research University named after Academician S.P. Korolev with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation. The program included the following areas:
• Design and Development of Unmanned Aerial Systems;
• Aerospace Systems Engineering;
• Aerospace Systems Engineering (international track).
Students of the Faculty of Physics and Technology of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University actively participated in the program, demonstrating a high level of engineering competence and effective teamwork.
Based on the results of the project defenses, the faculty team earned an honorable 2nd place. According to the official protocol, the Sky Innovation team placed 2nd in the “Aerospace Systems Engineering” track. This achievement reflects the successful development and presentation of an innovative engineering project in the field of aerospace technologies.
The organizers highlighted the strong theoretical preparation of KazNU students, their skills in engineering modeling, proficiency in modern digital tools, and creative approach to solving complex aerospace challenges.
Connection to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
Participation of students from the Faculty of Physics and Technology in international engineering schools contributes to the advancement of the following UN SDGs:
• SDG 4 – Quality Education: the Winter University program enhances students’ engineering and research competencies, strengthening the university’s human capital;
• SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure: training in aerospace technologies and involvement in practice-oriented projects support the development of high-tech industries in Kazakhstan.
The Faculty of Physics and Technology will continue to support student participation in international engineering schools, competitions, and research initiatives, further promoting the development of highly qualified engineering professionals for the country.
