Webinar on “Fundamentals of Financial Literacy: Pension Savings and Mortgage Lending”

On December 19, 2025, the Department of Economics organized a webinar entitled “Fundamentals of Financial Literacy: Pension Savings and Mortgage Lending”, held within the framework of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals — SDG 1 “No Poverty”, SDG 4 “Quality Education”, and SDG 8 “Decent Work and Economic Growth”. The participants of the event were employees of the Almaty City Development Center. The webinar brought together representatives from various professional fields interested in expanding their knowledge and practical understanding of modern financial instruments. The speaker of the webinar was Kamshat Onalbayeva, a representative of JSC “Otbasy Bank”. During the event, key issues related to pension savings investment were discussed in detail, approaches to their long-term use were presented, and the terms and specific features of the mortgage lending program of JSC “Otbasy Bank” were explained. Special attention was paid to analyzing the advantages and potential limitations of early mortgage repayment compared to continuing payments according to the established schedule. The topics discussed generated considerable interest and contributed to improving financial literacy and fostering a more informed approach to personal financial management.
