Within the framework of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal No. 4“Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all” — second-year students of the educational program 6B02205 — “History”, under the guidance of their curator-advisor, Senior Lecturer of the Department of the History of Kazakhstan K.K. Kabdoldina, attended a lecture on December 6 delivered by film and culture researcher and PhD candidate at Queen Mary University, Asiya Bagdauletkyzy, entitled “‘Shabandoz Qyz’: The Soviet Version of Women’s Emancipation and the Construction of National Identity in the ‘Laboratory of Friendship of Peoples.’”

The lecture was held at the Almaty Museum of Arts, a private museum dedicated to contemporary and current art, and focused on the analysis of representations of women’s freedom, cultural identity, and ideological structures in Soviet cinema. Participation in this event contributed to the development of students’ analytical thinking, broadened their understanding of the interconnections between history, culture, and visual media, and fostered skills of critical interpretation of historical narratives.

Thus, participation in scholarly and educational lectures held in museum spaces strengthens the interdisciplinary approach to training future historians, supports their cultural and professional development, and fully corresponds to the strategic priorities of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and the goals of sustainable development.

The event was attended by 10 students, 2 lecturers, doctoral students, and international guests.
