At the Department of Botany and Agroecology, on 20 November, a roundtable discussion titled “Conservation and Sustainable Use of Medicinal Plants” was held within the framework of SDG 15. The event was organized by academic advisors — Acting Associate Professor Assel Zhumagulovna Childibayeva and Research Associate Professor Akmaral Sadykovna Nurmakhanova — with the participation of students from group BB 23-04 of the “6B05102 – Biology” educational program.
During the event, participants comprehensively discussed the conservation of medicinal plant biodiversity, the drivers of declines in natural populations due to anthropogenic impacts, scientifically grounded approaches to protection, and the importance of rational and sustainable resource use. The participants also highlighted the role of medicinal plants in maintaining ecosystem stability and emphasized the need to comply with environmental requirements during their collection, processing, and application.
The roundtable was conducted in an open discussion format and concluded with recommendations aimed at conserving natural medicinal plant resources and promoting their sustainable use in line with the principles of sustainable development.
