'Silk Road' conference hall opened in KazNU
A landmark event took place at al-Farabi Kazakh National University – the opening ceremony of the modern Silk Road conference hall was held at the Faculty of Oriental Studies.
The new space, created with the support of international partners Fu Jian Haina Education Technology Group Co., Ltd, is designed to become an intellectual hub for students, scientists and experts whose activities are related to the study of the history, culture and economy of the countries of the Great Silk Road.
The event began with an official meeting of the honored guests, among whom were representatives of the diplomatic corps, the university administration and foreign patrons. The meeting was moderated by Mirzakhan Egamberdiev, Dean of the Faculty of Oriental Studies, who stressed the importance of creating such platforms for high-quality training of future specialists in Oriental studies and strengthening friendly ties between Kazakhstan and China.
The central moment of the celebration was the ribbon–cutting ceremony, which was attended by Margulan Ibraimov, Member of the Board, Vice Rector for Scientific and Innovative Development of KazNU, and Dr. Wu Keping, the honorary guest of the event, Chairman of Fu Jian Haina Education Technology Group Co., Ltd.
In his speech, Vice Rector Margulan Ibraimov emphasized the strategic importance of integrating science and education into the international context. He stressed that today, not just a modernly equipped auditorium is opening, but a unique platform for intellectual dialogue and strengthening humanitarian ties. The Silk Road Conference Hall will become a center of attraction for young researchers, a place where new ideas and joint scientific projects between Kazakhstan and China are born. The goal is to create all conditions for KazNU students and scientists to fully realize their potential within the framework of the international scientific and educational space.
Ms. Huang Xiaoming, Consul for Education of the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Almaty, also spoke at the meeting. She expressed confidence that the new platform would contribute to the further development of relations between the two countries and would become a venue for major forums and scientific symposiums. Dr. Wu Keping also expressed his support for the university's educational initiatives, noting the high level of training of KazNU students. In recognition of his significant contribution to the development of the university's infrastructure, Vice-Rector Margulan Ibraimov presented a letter of thanks to Dr. Wu Keping on behalf of the Rector of the university.
