Dilyara Utegenova, a third-year student majoring in “6B02304 – Translation Studies (Western Languages)” at the Faculty of Philology at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, secured first place at the prestigious International Student Olympiad on Pedagogical Technologies and Intercultural Communication “EduCultural Links” (Russian Federation, M.K. Ammosov North-Eastern Federal University), showcasing a high level of professional training and a deep understanding of intercultural communication.

The “EduCultural Links” Olympiad is known for its challenging and multi-layered tasks that require participants not only to have theoretical knowledge in Translation Studies but also to understand the cultural characteristics of different countries deeply. Dilyara successfully completed all stages of the competition, demonstrating excellent language skills and translation abilities.

“Winning this Olympiad fills me with great pride and honor. Honestly, it wasn’t easy, as the tasks proved to be truly challenging and complex. To succeed, I needed to not only master the theory but also deeply understand the cultural traits of each country,” shared the winner.

The student was especially impressed by the creative tasks involving humor and wordplay, where translating jokes while maintaining their original meaning and emotional tone was essential. “This is exactly what we are learning now: to translate not just articles and dry texts, but to convey living emotions and subtext,” noted Dilyara Utegenova.

Preparation for the Olympiad was conducted under the academic supervision of Yelena Alexandrovna Morugova, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Foreign Philology and Translation Studies. Systematic work on developing language competencies and translation skills enabled the student to achieve such impressive results at the international level.

“Participation in the Olympiad served as a strong motivation for my professional development. I want to sincerely thank the organizing universities and my academic supervisor for this opportunity. This victory encourages me not to settle for what I have achieved but to keep improving in my favorite field,” emphasized Dilyara Utegenova.

The student’s win at the international Olympiad clearly demonstrates the high quality of education at the Faculty of Philology of Al-Farabi KazNU and the professionalism of the faculty.

The Faculty of Philology and the Department of Foreign Philology and Translation Studies congratulate Dilyara Utegenova on her well-earned victory and wish her ongoing success in her professional growth!
