About foreign students at al-Farabi Kazakh National University
At al-Farabi Kazakh National University, young people from all over the world receive higher education. Since the establishment of independence in our country, the boundaries of communication between nations and countries have become more open, and the exchange of students between universities has become more active. Therefore, a department of pre-university training was specially opened at the preparatory faculty for foreign citizens, where foreign students are prepared for the Unified National Test and admission to various universities in the Republic of Kazakhstan. The Faculty of Pre-University Education for Foreign Citizens now consists of two departments and is called the Faculty of Pre-University Education. Currently, the faculty has two departments: the Department of Language and General Education for Foreign Citizens and the Department of Pre-University Education. These departments are staffed by a highly qualified team of teachers with extensive practical teaching experience. As part of the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, namely Goal 4 – Quality Education, the Department of Language and General Education Training teaches Russian and Kazakh to foreign citizens, helping students to prepare for admission to various faculties of al-Farabi Kazakh National University and other higher education institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Our teachers approach their work with great responsibility, often even giving their personal free time to their students – foreign students. Our faculty has its own specific features, which are that our students study at the faculty for only one year, come to Kazakhstan and the Southern capital for the first time, and know nothing about the culture, traditions, and customs of the peoples living in our country. Therefore, the teaching objectives for the faculty are expanded to include the additional goal of teaching foreign students to understand our local mentality, the correct perception and acceptance of the cultural values of our unique Kazakh society.
