KazNU participated in the Forum on space technologies in Wenchang

Scientists of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University took part in the international Forum on Aeronautics and Space, which was held in the city of Wenchang (Hainan Province, China).

The university delegation was headed by Amirkhan Temirbayev, Director of the Farabi Supercomputer Center. Within the framework of the forum, representatives of KazNU visited the Hainan Satellite Data and Research Center, where negotiations were held on the implementation of a joint project to create a satellite ground station at the al-Farabi KazNU.

The forum was also attended by the director of the Farabi Space Center, Nursultan Meirambekuly, and senior researcher Asset Beisen. The parties discussed in detail the key technical and organizational aspects of the project, as well as agreed on an accelerated timetable for its implementation, including the stages of deploying ground infrastructure and integration with existing satellite systems.

Wang Fengyu, Executive Director of the Hainan Center for the Study and Use of Satellite Data, expressed his willingness to launch the project promptly and stressed his interest in developing a long-term and mutually beneficial partnership with KazNU. In turn, Amirkhan Temirbayev thanked the host country for the invitation and the high level of organization of the forum, noting its practical orientation and importance for expanding international scientific and technical cooperation.

Following the negotiations, a protocol of intent was signed with an indication of specific deadlines for the implementation of the project. In addition, the parties discussed the prospects for in-depth cooperation in the field of joint development of satellites, remote sensing of the Earth, as well as the training of highly qualified specialists in the field of space technologies and satellite data processing.
