“The Spirit of the Nation and the History of Independence”

  (Event Dedicated to the 34th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan)

On December 8, 2025, under the leadership of Professor Kozybakova F.A. of the Department of History of Kazakhstan of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, the event "The Spirit of the Nation and the History of Independence" dedicated to the 34th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan was held at a high level. Today, the guests of such an important event were professors of the Department of History of Kazakhstan Noyanov Edil, Arynov Zhumakhan, and students from several faculties, who asked questions and shared their thoughts. Noyanov Edil, a witness of the December 1986 events, shared valuable recollections with the students, which left a notable impression. Students of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics actively participated in the event.

The main objective of the conference was to examine the historical stages of the country’s path to sovereignty ahead of Independence Day, celebrated on December 16. Special attention was given to the causes of the December 1986 events, their impact on the awakening of national consciousness, and the subsequent transformations in national policy.

A distinctive feature of the event included historical reenactments and creative projects prepared by students based on archival materials and additional sources. Participants succeeded in conveying the atmosphere of the decisive moments of the December events through staged performances. In addition, a small exhibition featuring documents, photographs, and testimonies related to the history of independent Kazakhstan was organized. Students who conducted the exhibition provided supplementary information and explanations regarding the displayed items.

The conference was aimed not only at expanding knowledge but also at strengthening national unity, patriotic spirit, and pride in the country. During the event, students recognized the importance of historical memory, the value of independence, and the need to take responsible ownership of the nation’s future.

At the conclusion of the event, the faculty administration and the teaching staff congratulated the students on Independence Day and expressed gratitude for their active participation. Special gifts were awarded to outstanding participants. The conference concluded with commemorative photographs.

The conference “The Spirit of the Nation and the History of Independence” became a significant and meaningful event, contributing to a deeper understanding of the value of independence and strengthening the spirit of statehood among young people.
