Institutional reforms: focus on quality, education and human capital

On January 5, 2026, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Kemelovich Tokayev, gave an in-depth interview to the Turkistan newspaper, in which the results of 2025 were summarized and key priorities for the country’s further development were outlined. In connection with this event, the Press Service of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University conducted an interview with Baglan Muratovna Aliyeva, PhD in Economics, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Finance and Accounting, on the topic “Institutional Reforms: The Priority of Qualitative Changes.” As a higher education lecturer, B.M. Aliyeva emphasized that the Head of State assigns a special role to human capital, education, and science as the foundation of a sustainable and competitive state. This interview was conducted within the framework of SDG 4 — Quality Education, SDG 8 — Decent Work and Economic Growth, SDG 11 — Sustainable Cities and Communities, SDG 12 — Responsible Consumption and Production, and SDG 16 — Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions.
