Partnership with Soochow University is being strengthened

Margulan Ibraimov, Member of the Board and ViceRector for Research and Innovation at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, held a meeting with a delegation from Soochow University (China) headed by Vice-rector Zhang Zhengbiao.

The purpose of the visit was to discuss the prospects for deepening strategic cooperation in the field of science and higher education.

During the talks, Margulan Ibraimov noted that KazNU is already actively cooperating with 94 universities in China, and a branch of Northwestern Polytechnic University and joint laboratories in the field of remote sensing, 5G technologies and other fields are successfully operating at the university. The University is open to the implementation of new promising initiatives and joint projects.

In turn, Vice-rector of Soochow University Zhang Zhengbiao expressed great interest in developing the partnership, emphasizing the university's status as one of the leading multidisciplinary research centers in China with more than a century of history. The guest noted that Soochow University has a good base in engineering and natural sciences, and is also known for strong programs in the fields of civil engineering, ecology and materials science.

Following the meeting, the parties discussed specific formats of cooperation: the development of research based on the existing Huibo Robotics Center (FARABI HUB), the launch of joint educational programs and the organization of internships to train highly qualified specialists. Margulan Ibraimov proposed combining the scientific potential of the two universities to implement innovative grant projects and create joint research platforms.

At the end of the visit, the delegation members visited the KazNU Museum, got acquainted with the campus infrastructure and reached an agreement on developing a further cooperation plan.
