How to Protect the Marine Ecosystem from Industrial Impact

On February 9, 2026, the senior lecturers of the Department of Foreign Languages of the Philological Faculty of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University,  D. M. Makhmetova, A. A. Muldagalieva, M. Zh. Myrzakhmet, E. I. Lugovskaya, and Z. S. Nessipbayeva  held an international educational event on the topic:  “How to Protect the Marine Ecosystem from Industrial Impact” within the framework of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 14 Ecosystem Conservation).

The event was attended by the  first-year students of the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology. It was conducted in English in a hybrid format.

International participants also took part in the event:

1.     Alina Bazarkhan (Guangzhou, China, Jinan University);

2.     Valeria Shin (New York, USA, Google).

During the event,  the participants discussed the main sources of industrial pollution and possible ways to mitigate their negative impact on marine ecosystems. Each participant presented their own proposals aimed at preventing pollution and preserving seas and oceans.
