Legumes as a resource for the future and food security: a scientific workshop within the framework of the UN SDG-2

As part of the educational and scientific outreach activities of the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology at Al-Farabi KazNU, a scientific seminar dedicated to World Legume Day was held on February 10, 2026, at the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics. The seminar was implemented in the context of the UN SDG 2 "End Hunger and Achieve Food Security."
Professor Zh.Zh. Chunetova led the seminar for 1-3-year students. During the event, Professor Z.G. Aytasheva and Associate Professor B.A. Zhumabayeva shared their unique knowledge on the characteristics of legumes and presented the results of modern scientific research in this field.
The event contributed to the development of students' scientific interest and a deeper understanding of the role of legumes in ensuring food security and sustainable agriculture as significant factors in the sustainable development of society.
