A Commemorative Article by Colleagues in Memory of Birlikbay Yeszhanov

In the publication of the Institute of Zoology of the Republic of Kazakhstan — the scientific journal Kazakhstan Zoology Bulletin (2025, Volume 6, No. 1) — a commemorative article written by colleagues has been published in memory of the renowned zoologist, Candidate of Biological Sciences, Associate Professor, Professor of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, Honorary Worker of Science and Education, and recipient of the “Sańlaq Author” title, Birlikbay Yeszhanov (01.05.1945 – 23.03.2025), who worked for many years at the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

B.E. Yeszhanov was the author of more than 400 scientific works and made a significant contribution to the development of zoological science in Kazakhstan. He was recognized not only within the scientific community of Kazakhstan but also internationally, leaving a notable mark on global science through his research. A special focus of his work was the development of scientific terminology in the Kazakh language and the formation of national scientific linguistic resources.

Birlikbay Yeszhanovich was distinguished by his high professionalism, extensive life experience, wisdom, and exacting standards toward himself and his students. He devoted himself to training young specialists and serving science and education. The passing of such an individual is an irreparable loss. The scholar’s scientific legacy and his bright memory will forever remain in the hearts of his colleagues and students.
