Preliminary defense of a dissertation on the development of cryopreservation technology for pike-perch reproductive cells

17 february, 2026

Doctoral student of the Department of Zoology, Histology and Cytology Mussina Ainura Daniyarovna, enrolled in the educational program “Fisheries and Industrial Fishing”, successfully passed the preliminary defense of her dissertation on February 11 on the topic “Development of a cryopreservation technology for reproductive cells of male pikeperch (Sander lucioperca) for artificial reproduction in recirculating aquaculture systems”. Scientific supervisor – Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor Nurtazin S. T.

The dissertation research is aimed at the development of modern biotechnological approaches in aquaculture, as well as the conservation and rational use of aquatic biological resources of Kazakhstan. The study provides scientific justification for methods of obtaining, cryopreserving and long-term storage of the genetic material of valuable fish species, which makes it possible to increase the efficiency of artificial reproduction, preserve the genetic diversity of natural populations, and create a basis for the formation of cryobanks. The practical significance of the results lies in the possibility of their implementation in the activities of fish farms and research and production centers.

The relevance of the research is determined by its contribution to the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goal 14, aimed at the conservation of marine and aquatic ecosystems. The obtained results contribute to sustainable water resource management, the development of environmentally oriented biotechnologies,s and the strengthening of the country’s food security. The work received a positive evaluation from the members of the department and was recommended for further submission for defense.
