30 Years of the Parliament of Kazakhstan: Equal Opportunities and Government Accountability
On February 12, 2026, within the framework of pedagogical practice, a master's student in Political Science, Zhanseit Aruzhan, organized an open dialogue event titled “30 Years of the Parliament of Kazakhstan: Equal Opportunities and Government Accountability.”
The event was dedicated to the 30th anniversary of parliamentarism in the Republic of Kazakhstan. During the meeting, participants discussed the stages of the Parliament’s formation, its role in the system of state power, the importance of legislative activity, and issues of political responsibility.
Within the framework of the topic, the concept of “equal opportunities” was linked to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. In particular, attention was paid to UN Goal 5 - achieving gender equality and empowering all women and girls. Students exchanged views on the role of women in political representation, gender balance in decision-making processes, and the accountability of government to society.
The honored guest of the open dialogue was Assel Bakhadyrovna Zairova, a deputy of the Almaty Regional Maslikhat. She shared her experience in public office, spoke about the work of the maslikhat, gender representation in regional politics, and legislative initiatives.
The event became a meaningful and constructive platform for dialogue, contributing to the development of students’ professional perspectives and a deeper understanding of political processes.
