KazNU expands cooperation within the TSTOUR project

Aliya Aktymbayeva, Dean of the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Management of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, paid a working visit to the University of Salzburg (Austria) by special invitation as part of the international TStour project.

The visit was organized with the aim of expanding scientific cooperation and defining strategic directions for joint activities.

During the visit, a number of specialized meetings were held, where issues of developing joint research in the field of tourism, data processing and visualization, and expanding academic partnership were discussed.  A TStour workshop was also held.

According to Dean Aliya Aktymbaeva, the program addressed issues of supporting academic QS surveys, working with dashboards and open data, as well as practical exercises using ArcGIS MapStory to create "stories" based on maps based on research results.

In addition, a meeting was held with representatives of the Center for Tourism Statistics of the Salzburg region. The parties discussed approaches to the analysis of tourist flows and the calculation of industry revenues.

Following the visit, the parties agreed on further areas of joint work for 2026-27. As part of the joint work, it is planned to prepare scientific articles with publication in leading international journals, hold an international scientific and practical conference with a collection of materials indexed in Scopus, as well as develop international project applications, including Horizon Europe programs. In addition, lectures by foreign partners, the organization of scientific internships and the invitation of foreign scientists to give lectures at the university are provided.
