A regular February meeting of the Academic Council was held at the Faculty of Journalism.

SDG-4 Prior to the start of the meeting, in accordance with tradition, awards, anniversaries, and other positive achievements of the university’s faculty members were highlighted. In this context, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Publishing, Editing, and Design Arts, Abdiraman Yermakhan Shaikhyuly, was honored on the occasion of his 60th anniversary and awarded a Silver Medal for his outstanding contribution to the development of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. In addition, Zhandos Baizhuma, Head of the University’s Strategic Development Center, delivered a report on issues related to the QS World University Rankings, enhancing the university’s position through close cooperation with employers, and other relevant topics.
The Academic Council meeting then proceeded in accordance with the agenda. Altyn Bakashkyzy, Deputy Dean for Research, Innovation, and International Relations, presented a report on the H-index of the faculty’s academic staff and their publications indexed in the Scopus database.
Heads of departments also reported on the implementation of research projects planned for the 2025–2026 academic years.
Furthermore, Marlan Onglasynkyzy, Chair of the Faculty’s Methodological Bureau, presented information on planning and organizing the educational process, including curriculum and syllabus development, selection of final assessment formats and platforms, examination tasks, grading criteria, and scoring systems. The Academic Council meeting continued with the discussion of other current issues.
