GenAI and Educational Transformation: A Large-Scale Redesign of Academic Disciplines Held at Al-Farabi KazNU
As part of the "PROFESSIONAL WEEK – 2026" at the Al-Farabi Library, a high-impact practical track titled "Reassembly-2026: Course Redesign with GenAI Tools" was successfully conducted. Moderated by Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Alina Galeeva and Head of Quality Assurance Asel Musinova, the session brought together over 200 faculty members in 36 collaborative teams. The primary focus was on transforming traditional academic disciplines by integrating Generative AI into syllabi, lecture materials, and assessment strategies using the innovative "Draft–Critique–Improve" methodology. This hands-on intensive allowed educators to enhance teaching quality while managing professional workload through cutting-edge technology.
This initiative aligns perfectly with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It directly supports SDG 4 (Quality Education) by upgrading teaching competencies and ensuring inclusive, high-quality learning materials specifically adapted for international students. By focusing on AI-resistant assignments and personalized learning paths, the university reinforces its commitment to academic integrity and pedagogical excellence. Furthermore, the track advances SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) by fostering a digital academic ecosystem. It also embodies SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through collaborative expert mentorship and the shared pursuit of global educational standards. The outcomes include modernized curriculum packages ready for the 2026-2027 academic year, balancing digital innovation with rigorous academic requirements.
