Student Debate on «ChatGPT – Threat or Effective Tool?»
Third-year students of the Economics educational program organized a debate on the topic «ChatGPT – Threat or Effective Tool?» (04.03.2026). The purpose of the event was to discuss the impact of artificial intelligence technologies on the education system, analyze their advantages and potential risks, and develop students’ critical thinking, analytical, and argumentation skills.
During the debate, participants were divided into two teams and defended their positions on the effectiveness of ChatGPT in education and its potential risks using well-founded arguments. Students noted that artificial intelligence enables fast information retrieval, facilitates the learning process, improves the quality of education, and helps develop digital skills. At the same time, important issues such as academic integrity, technological dependency, and the risk of reduced critical thinking were also discussed.
It was emphasized that effective and responsible use of artificial intelligence technologies contributes to ensuring quality education (SDG 4 – Quality Education), promoting innovation and digital technologies (SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), and supporting the development of sustainable societies (SDG 16 – Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions). As a result of the debate, participants concluded that artificial intelligence tools should be used consciously, effectively, and responsibly, while maintaining academic integrity. Artificial intelligence is a tool of the future, and its responsible use is an essential condition of modern education.
