SOCIAL MEDIA AND THE LANGUAGE OF ADVERTISING: NEW DIRECTIONS IN LANGUAGE EDUCATION IN THE DIGITAL AGE

On March 17, 2026, an engaging open lesson combining pedagogical excellence and modern teaching approaches was held at the Department of Turkology and History of Eastern Countries. The event was organized by first-year doctoral student of the educational program 8D02305 – “Foreign Philology (Turkish Language)” Nazym Shuynshina Meta for third-year students of the educational program “6B02207 – Oriental Studies” within the course “Language of Mass Media of the Studied Eastern Country.”

The open lesson, titled “Sosyal medya ve reklam dili,” comprehensively covered current trends in language development in the digital age, as well as the specific features of social media and advertising discourse. During the lesson, students analyzed the structure and functions of social media language and examined its influence on the Turkish language. In addition, they explored the characteristics of advertising language and demonstrated their creativity by developing advertising slogans.

The lesson was organized based on modern pedagogical approaches, with extensive use of interactive methods. Group work, creative tasks, and practice-oriented exercises increased students’ interest in the subject and encouraged their active participation. Students not only acquired theoretical knowledge but also enhanced their skills in practical application, analysis, and synthesis.

Faculty members and students participated in the discussion of the open lesson and gave a positive evaluation of the educational process. During the discussion, Acting Head of the Department of Turkology and History of Eastern Countries, Associate Professor A. Khalel, highlighted the well-structured content of the lesson, the effectiveness of the teaching methods used, and the high level of student engagement.

The event was organized at a high scientific and methodological level and became an effective platform for the exchange of pedagogical experience. Such open lessons significantly contribute to improving the quality of education, developing the professional competence of young scholars, and strengthening the academic potential of the university.
