On March 17, 2026, a cultural and educational event titled “March 17 – Shanyrak Day” was held at the Faculty of Philology of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, organized by the Department of Turkology and Language Theory. The event was conducted among students of the educational program “Foreign Language: Two Foreign Languages” and took place in Dormitory No. 17 of the Faculty of Philology.
The main purpose of the event was to highlight the significance of the concept of “Shanyrak,” promote family values, and popularize national traditions and spiritual heritage. It was emphasized that for the Kazakh people, the shanyrak is not only a symbol of the family, but also represents the continuity of generations, unity, prosperity, and harmony.

During the program, students performed songs reflecting national spirit and presented traditional dances. In addition, the sound of the dombra created a special atmosphere and left a strong impression on the participants. Guests were offered traditional dishes, demonstrating the hospitality of the Kazakh people. As part of the event, blessings (bata) were given and heartfelt wishes were expressed.
In the educational segment, a quiz was organized to assess students’ knowledge of national culture and traditions. Participants demonstrated high activity, interest, and teamwork.
Faculty members also took part in the event, supporting students’ initiatives. Such meaningful and educational activities contribute to the development of national identity among young people and foster respect for family values.
The event held within the framework of Shanyrak Day not only contributed to the spiritual development of students but also enhanced their respect for national culture and promoted unity and harmony.
