The Cherry Orchard

10 march, 2026

On March 10, 2026, first-year master’s students of the educational program “7M01701 – Kazakh Language and Literature” took part in an event organized within the framework of the “Sustainable Development Goals.” They attended the performance The Cherry Orchard at Gabit Musrepov Kazakh State Academic Theatre for Children and Youth. The event was organized by course instructor K.K. Kurkebayev and doctoral interns P.B. Shaden and M.E. Nurlan.
The aim of the educational event was to broaden the spiritual horizons of the younger generation and to foster a thoughtful perspective on social issues. Through the storyline of the performance, the master’s students reflected on the subtle connections between individuals and society, time and values, and deeply realized the significance of the ancestral home (“kara shanyrak”) and family in human life.
After the performance, a meaningful discussion was held around the idea of the play, based on the principles of the “Sustainable Development Goals.” During the discussion, issues such as the continuity of tradition and modernization, and the relationship between spiritual heritage and contemporary perspectives were addressed, and a conversation was held about the place of the concept of “kara shanyrak” in the national consciousness.
It is evident that such spiritual and cultural events not only deepen the professional understanding of future language specialists but also make a significant contribution to the development of their thinking culture, civic stance, and moral-aesthetic values.
