In accordance with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation), a scientific and educational event on “Global Water Issues” was organized at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The aim of the event was to raise awareness of current challenges related to water scarcity, water pollution, and effective water resource management, as well as to foster environmental responsibility among students.

     During the event, faculty members and students discussed the causes and consequences of global water scarcity. In addition, key issues such as the sustainable use of water resources, water security under climate change, and broader sustainable development challenges were thoroughly examined.

     The program included the following activities:

• a thematic lecture dedicated to global water issues;
• presentations on water scarcity and environmental risks;
• a discussion session and exchange of ideas among participants;
• the development of proposals for water resource protection.

     The event was attended by faculty members, master’s students, and undergraduate students of the university. Participants enhanced their knowledge of sustainable water use and environmental protection.

     The event contributed to the implementation of SDG 6 “Clean Water and Sanitation” by promoting environmental awareness and strengthening students’ sense of responsibility in addressing global challenges.
