Psychology in the Digital Society: Research Methodology, Clinical and Applied Solutions
On March 20, 2026, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted the III Zharikbayev Readings International Scientific and Practical Conference entitled “Psychology in the Digital Society: Research Methodology, Clinical and Applied Solutions”, dedicated to the scholarly legacy of Professor K.B. Zharikbayev.
Kubigul Bozaevich Zharikbayev (1927–2021) was a distinguished Kazakh psychologist and educator, Doctor of Psychological and Pedagogical Sciences, recipient of the Silver Medal of Abu Nasr Al-Farabi of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, and Honored Worker of Science and Technology of the Republic of Kazakhstan. He authored over 1,000 scholarly publications and mentored several generations of Kazakhstani researchers, psychologists, and educational practitioners.
Professor Zharikbayev is widely recognized as a founding figure in ethnopsychology, ethnopedagogy, and the history of psychology in Kazakhstan. He made a substantial contribution to the establishment and development of the national psychological school and to the advancement of higher education in psychology in the Kazakh language.
The conference brought together more than 70 participants, including scholars and practitioners from Kazakhstan, Russia, Germany, China, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and other countries, as well as doctoral candidates, master’s students, and undergraduate students from universities across Kazakhstan. The conference program addressed contemporary issues in psychological and pedagogical science through the lens of K.B. Zharikbayev’s ideas, and facilitated the exchange of research experience, as well as theoretical and applied findings.
Students and colleagues of K.B. Zharikbayev shared personal recollections and reflected on the academic and professional legacy of this outstanding scholar, teacher, and mentor.
The conference proceedings of the III Zharikbayev Readings International Scientific and Practical Conference “Psychology in the Digital Society: Research Methodology, Clinical and Applied Solutions” are scheduled for publication.
