KazNU has strengthened its position in the QS Subject rating

Al-Farabi Kazakh National University has once again confirmed its status as the undisputed leader among the country's higher education institutions according to the results of the prestigious QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026.

The University has secured the title of the flagship of higher education in the republic, demonstrating a qualitative increase in indicators and a large-scale expansion of its presence in the global scientific and educational space.

The country's leading university tops the list of Kazakhstani universities in terms of the number of positions in subject rankings. This year, the university has officially entered 4 industry and 23 subject QS rankings, which is the best indicator in the republic.

The results of the current year's ranking demonstrated the steady growth dynamics of the university. In particular, KazNU improved its position in 10 subject areas, and entered the rating for the first time in 6 more areas. One of the most significant achievements was the success of the specialty "Oil and Gas Engineering", which immediately joined the 101-150 group, joining the ranks of the best educational programs in the world.

The discipline of Linguistics has made a significant breakthrough, rising from the 201-250 group to the 101-150 category. The Modern Languages direction has maintained its high positions, demonstrating stability at the 101-150 group level.

The range of the university's subject coverage has also expanded. This year, for the first time, such new educational areas as "Art and Design", "Classical Philology and Ancient History", "Data Science and Artificial Intelligence", "Philosophy", "Theology and Religious Studies" were included in the rating. This indicates the comprehensive development of KazNU's academic potential.

Speaking about the results in the subject areas, in the field of humanities, "Archeology" has strengthened its position, rising to the 151-200 group, and the discipline "History" entered the 201-250 category. In the field of natural sciences, Mathematics improved its performance from the 251-300 level to the 201-250 group. The fields of Physics and Astronomy, Chemistry, and Water and Environmental Sciences are also making steady progress.

In the field of engineering and technology, computer science, electric power, and mechanical engineering programs have consolidated their positions in the 401-450 group. In the social sciences, the Education field has shown significant growth, rising from the level of 351-400 to 251-300. Business and Management also improved its performance, joining the 451-500 group.

The university's high positions in the subject ranking are based on a solid scientific foundation. Scientometric indicators, such as citations per publication (Citations per paper) and the International Research Network (IRN), demonstrate stable positive dynamics in almost all broad subject areas.
