The IX International Distance Student Olympiad Held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University

The IX International Distance Student Olympiad on the topic “Digital Technologies in Logistics and Marketing” was successfully held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, organized by the Higher School of Economics and Business, Department of Business Technologies. The event became a significant academic and scientific-educational platform aimed at developing students’ professional competencies and strengthening international collaboration in the context of the digital economy.
A total of 149 second- and third-year students from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan participated in the Olympiad. The participants were enrolled in the educational programs “Logistics” and “Marketing.” This format made it possible to bring together representatives from various universities and create a space for the exchange of knowledge, ideas, and practical experience. The participants demonstrated a high level of preparation, analytical thinking, the ability to apply interdisciplinary approaches, and proficiency in using digital tools to solve professional tasks.
The competition program included essay writing and the development of project solutions aimed at implementing modern technologies into business processes. Particular attention was given to the use of digital platforms, data analytics, and elements of artificial intelligence in logistics and marketing. A total of 19 teams participated in the “Logistics” track, while 18 teams competed in the “Marketing” track, indicating strong student interest in developing digital competencies.
Based on expert evaluation, the jury determined the winners in the team category. In the “Logistics” track, first place was awarded to the team from Tashkent State Transport University. Second place was shared by Karaganda University of Kazpotrebsoyuz, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, and S. Seifullin Kazakh Agro-Technical Research University. Third place was awarded to representatives of the International Transport and Humanities University and teams from Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

In the “Marketing” track, first place was awarded to Narxoz University. Second place was taken by Turan University, Kyrgyz National University named after Jusup Balasagyn, and Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. Third place went to Kazakhstan-American Free University, Almaty Management University (AlmaU), and the International Engineering and Technological University.

The winners were awarded diplomas of the respective degrees, while all participants received personalized certificates confirming their participation in the international Olympiad. This became an important component of building students’ academic and professional portfolios and served as additional motivation for their further development.
The Olympiad highlighted the relevance of digital technologies as a key driver of modern economic development. The event contributed to strengthening academic ties between universities, fostering scientific cooperation, and developing practical skills among students that are in demand in the labor market under conditions of digital transformation.
