The 15th anniversary of the achievements of the Geoenergy Center was celebrated

A solemn ceremony dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the founding of the Kazakh-French Center for Geoenergy was held at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The event was attended by representatives of the diplomatic corps, rectors of leading universities, renowned scientists and graduates of double-degree programs.

The solemn meeting was opened by Chairman of the Board – Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev. In his welcoming speech, he noted the strategic importance of the center for the development of Russian science and world-class personnel training. "15 years is a significant milestone when an educational initiative develops into a sustainable strategic alliance. The center, established in 2010, has become an example of effective cooperation between KazNU, Satbayev University and the University of Lorraine. His mission was to form the scientific and engineering elite of Kazakhstan in the field of energy and georesources, as well as to integrate the best European educational practices. The implementation of the first two-degree education program in Kazakhstan jointly with a French university has become a real breakthrough that has set the vector for the development of the entire system of international education in the country. Today, we are proud of the results: more than 180 masters have successfully completed their studies, becoming part of a new scientific and engineering elite capable of responding to global challenges such as sustainable development, energy security, the introduction of new energy sources and technologies of the future",- said Zhanseit Kanseituly.

During the ceremony, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to the Republic of Kazakhstan Sylvain Gioguet delivered a congratulatory speech, who praised the work of the center and noted its important role. According to him, France is interested in further strengthening ties and expanding scientific and research horizons. "We see how the graduates of the center make a real contribution to the economy of Kazakhstan by working in the largest companies. Our common task is to build on this success by introducing and implementing new innovative educational programs",- the diplomat stressed.

The rector of Satbayev University, Meiram Begentayev, and Cecile Nouvel, Vice President for International Strategy at the University of Lorraine, also spoke at the event, confirming their intentions to further expand trilateral cooperation.

During the ceremony, the results of the center's activities were summed up, and a new agreement was signed between al-Farabi Kazakh National University and Satbayev University on the joint involvement of professors. The evening culminated with the graduation ceremony for graduates from 2024-2025 and a meeting with graduates from previous years who shared their career success stories.
