„Conflicts and Challenges in Central Asia from a Regional and Transregional Perspective” Summer School

We invite you to participate in the opening of the Summer School of the Faculty of International Relations on the topic: "Conflicts and Challenges in Central Asia from a Regional and Transregional Perspective", which is held from 20 To June 30, 2017.
The summer school is organized in cooperation with the Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi and Philip’s Marburg University (Germany).
30 students from Kazakhstan, Germany, Kyrgyzstan take part in the Summer School. The educational process under the modular program is provided by ten professors of Marburg University, KazNU, Kazakh-German University (KNU), American Central Asian University (ACAU, Kyrgyzstan).
The topic of the Summer School is aimed at study the problem areas of social and political sciences in the West, subjecting new concepts to rethinking regionalism, introducing a new conceptual apparatus for the purpose of applied study of conflicts and conflict potential in Central Asia. Within the framework of the Summer School, it is planned to hold discussion platforms on understanding contemporary dynamics of conflicts in a comparative context in the Central Asian republics; Relations with neighboring states and the identification of the further role of leading actors in the Central Asian region.
The purpose of the Summer School is to expand and deepen bilateral cooperation of the KazNU with the University of Marburg, universities of Central Asia in the framework of exchange programs, the Erasmus Plus program, the development of scientific and project cooperation, the institutionalization of Central Asian studies in Germany at the University of Marburg.
The concept of the Summer School - Professor Thorsten Bonaker, director of the Institute for Conflict Studies, the Institute of Sociology of Philip’s Marburg University. Responsible for the organization in KazNU: prof. Gubaidullina M.Sh., Center for German Studies.
Holding a joint Summer School with German partner universities is timed to the 25th anniversary of cooperation between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Federal Republic of Germany, and the fifth anniversary of the establishment of the Center for German Studies in the KazNU named after Al-Farabi.
For the information: The University of Marburg is the oldest European university, founded in the early 16th century. Mikhail Lomonosov was among the most bright scientists and students of this university, and today the University has 13 Nobel Prize winners.
