At the Department of the Far East in the framework of the student scientific circle "Shinsede" held an open lecture of doctor of political Sciences Dmitry Volbonovich Myung on a trip to North Korea
In 2019, from September 2 to 10, Doctor of Political Sciences Men D.V. as part of the official delegation of the Association of Koreans of Kazakhstan visited the DPRK. In his speech, Myung D.V. told students of the Korean Studies Department in detail about this trip.
The route consisted of Almaty-Beijing-Pyongyang. At the airport in Pyongyang, they were met with hospitality by the Deputy Head of the Department for Koreans Abroad, Mr. Che Jol Ho and translation guides.
D.V. Myung was very impressed with the architecture of the capital: a lot of high-rise buildings along with good roads, where due to the small number of cars there were no traffic jams. But, unfortunately, the country still has a card system, according to which residents receive the necessary products. The official delegation also managed to visit the historical Museum of Gifts Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, where the showcase showed numerous gifts from the presidents and prime ministers of many countries, the total number of which reached several hundred thousand. They also conquered the famous Mount Kymgansan (height 1639 m).
At the end of his lecture D.V.Myung said: “North Korea has made a breakthrough in recent decades toward modernization with an understanding of Korean socialism. Pyongyang has completely settled in, it can be compared with the Asian cities of Hanoi (Vietnam), Bangkok (Thailand) and others. I was surprised by their survival method and the resilience of this people. "At the very end of a unique and interesting lecture, students were able to ask questions to the lecturer.
