Japan Foundation and Al-Farabi Kazakh National University partnership goes on within «Sakura Network»
In 2007 in collaboration with japanese language educational institutions worldwide The Japan Foundation has founded “JF Nihongo Network (Sakura Network)”.
The objective of “Sakura Network” is to provide the opportunity to study Japanese language and to improve the quality of teaching Japanese abroad. Any educational institution that plays a significant role in teaching Japanese in their region/country can become a part of that project.
Members of Sakura Network play a major role in developing education in Japanese language in their regions using grants schemes and educational programs provided by Japan Foundation. The members of the network have already initiated a number of excellent projects.
Al-Farabi Kazakh National University is a member of Sakura Network since 2007. Al-Farabi Kazakh National University is the only institution of Kazakhstan included in Sakura Network.
Despite the difficult situation in the world due to the outbreak of a virus “covid-19”, this year again our university was honored to be a member of “Sakura Network” till 31st of December 2024.
Being a member of this project provides opportunities to our teachers of Japanese language, Japanese literature and culture and research scientists. Our teachers and researchers are able to participate in grant projects and Japan Foundation programs. For several years our teachers have participated in scholarship and skill development programs on methods of teaching Japanese language.
