The Rector thanked the distinguished guest for his visit and for the interest shown in the University's activities. During the talks, he highlighted that Turkey was the first country that recognized the sovereignty of Kazakhstan after its independence. Today the political and economic relations established between the two countries have had a positive impact on all areas of activity. In Kazakhstan, the Turkish companies and investors are successfully operating, including in scientific and educational spheres.
During the meeting Rector Galym Mutanov told the guests about the activities and achievements of the University, cooperation with the Turkish higher education institutions, and the international contacts through which teachers and students are exchanged as part of academic mobility. It was also noted that the first visit of the new Ambassador of Turkey to Kazakhstan to KazNU is symbolic and promises success, as this year is declared the anniversary year of the thinker of the East Abu Nasr Al-Farabi, the name of whom the University bears dignity.
During the meeting, the sides also discussed the work of Al-Farabi centers, one of which has been opened in Istanbul. Today, 12 international centers promote the principles and ideas of Al-Farabi’s writings on a virtuous and civilized society, which according to experts and scholars are essential for all humankind to rethink moral and spiritual values.
The Ambassador, in turn, thanked the Rector for his warm welcome and attention. He highly appreciated the level of cooperation between KazNU and Turkish universities and expressed readiness to provide support to promote joint projects and programs in science and education, as well as to promote further active cooperation between the two countries. At the end of the meeting, Mr. Ufuk Ekici was invited to deliver a lecture for KazNU students in an online format.
