Activities performed within the CLASS project
Within the framework of this project, the educational program "7M06101 - Computational Linguistics" for the magistracy was developed and implemented. This program has been implemented at our Department of Information Systems from the 2019-2020 academic year. "7M06101 - Computational Linguistics" is a joint international educational program of scientific and pedagogical direction, lasting 2 years. (The program can be viewed here: Link to the educational program of the Bologna Process Center: http://esuvo.platonus.kz/#/register/education_program/application/14113. Link to the university page where the educational program is located: https://www.kaznu.kz/ru/18592/page/.)
The teaching staff that conducts courses on EP "7M06101 - Computational Linguistics" took courses "Computational Linguistics Course" held in University of A Coruna, Spain, from 18/06/2018 to 03/07/2018 and "Training of academic staff for developing NLP tools" held at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan, Poland, from 19 to 28 May 2019 to increase potential in this area.
For the educational program "7M06101 - Computational Linguistics" syllabuses and content materials of the educational process have been developed.
Online courses for blended learning and 4 NLP tools are developed. Our teachers who are members of the project have developed an online course for blended learning in the discipline "Machine Translation Technologies". Also, our teachers have developed the following tools:
o Monolingual NLP tools: Morphological analyzer, WordGenerator, Tokenizer, Parser phrase (http://nlp.corpus.kaznu.kz/);
o Bilingual corpora development tools: https://github.com/NLP-KazNU/kaz-parallel-corpora_collect_and_clean.
7 e-books and methodological books on CL are developed. Our teachers who are members of the project have developed a textbook called "Computational Linguistics: Language Resources" in the discipline of Language Resources.
The name of the textbook: "Computational Linguistics: Language Resources". Authors: Madiyeva G., Mansurova M., Dossanova A., Kadyrbek N. Recommended for publication: by the Scientific Council of the Faculty of Philology and World Languages and the Scientific Council of the Faculty of Information Technologies and the Editorial and Publishing Council of al-Farabi KazNU. Reviewers: Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Tukeyev U.A. and Doctor of Philology Ibrayeva Zh.K. House and year of publication: Almaty: Kazakh University, 2021. Volume: 151 pp. The textbook "Computational Linguistics: Language Resources" is intended for undergraduates enrolled in the Master's program in the direction of training "Information and Communication Technologies". This tutorial will improve students' in-depth understanding of the structure, purpose and function of various language resources, as well as develop the ability to use existing language resources and create new ones for natural language processing. As a result of studying this course, students will be able to describe the theoretical and organizational-methodological issues of the construction and operation of the linguistic support subsystem, develop new tools for collecting, storing and managing data, reuse existing and develop new language resources, and adapt language resources for certain NLP applications. |
Within the framework of the project, equipment was purchased for the preparation of a workplace for scientific research and the occupation of undergraduates studying for EP "7M06101 - Computational Linguistics".
The project contributed to the development of active interaction with external organizations and enterprises, such as: “Alem Research” and “Translators Group”.
