RECTOR KAZNU MET WITH A REPRESENTATIVE OF QS
Al-Farabi KazNU was visited by the regional director of the British company QS for Russia, Eastern Europe and Central Asia Sergey Khristolyubov. Within the framework of the visit of the QS representative, a meeting was held with the Chairman of the Board - Rector of Al-Farabi KazNU Zhanseit Tuimebayev.
During the meeting, Rector Zh. Tuimebayev spoke about the new plans and directions of the university's activities, which are designed to bring the university to a qualitatively new level. Integrating into the global scientific and educational community, KazNU is doing a lot of work, the goal of which is to bring the indicators closer to international ones. “In recent years, KazNU has significantly advanced in the QS rating, taking 165th place in 2020. This is a convincing proof of the university's high competitiveness in the world market of scientific and educational services, which means that the university is attractive for local applicants, foreign students and professors, as well as foreign universities, which regard us as a reliable partner, ”said KazNU rector Zh. Tuimebayev.
In turn, the regional director of QS for Russia, Eastern Europe and Central Asia Sergey Khristolyubov spoke about the significant improvement of the university's position in the “QS by Subject” subject rating in 13 areas of study, which will help increase the ranking and international recognition of the university.
According to S. Khristolyubov, today there is a survey among academic experts and employers' experts. Depending on its results, the university's position in the rankings of 2022 will be determined. 102 thousand academic experts from all over the world take part in this survey, and employers are additionally surveyed. It was noted that KazNU, which occupies a leading place among Kazakhstani universities, now positions itself in the subject ranking in 13 areas of training. In the near future, the results of QS Stars will be published, where KazNU named after Al-Farabi also shows leadership among Kazakhstani universities.
“Your university has very good reputation indicators, including in science. And the more often articles appear in the most influential scientific journals, the higher the citation rates, ”said S. Khristolyubov. A QS representative gave recommendations that will allow the university to go global. Among them - attracting new foreign partner universities, solving topical issues and tasks of science and technology, etc. Answering the questions of the KazNU leadership on expansion and collaboration with foreign universities, S. Khristolyubov noted that the agency has ample opportunities to choose the best universities. And they are always ready to cooperate universities with each other for dialogue, exchange of programs, creation of joint laboratories and cooperation. “For our part, we will do our best for successful and fruitful activity, realizing that as partners and associates we are doing a common cause, working for recognition, international authority and prestige of the KazNU diploma,” stressed the representative of QS Sergey Khristolyubov.
During the visit, the QS Regional Director for Russia, Eastern Europe and Central Asia Sergey Khristolyubov held a session for representatives of universities in the city of Almaty, where he presented a presentation “Increasing the global competitiveness of Kazakhstani education and science”. During the meeting, Sergey Khristolyubov noted that it is necessary to pay special attention to the issue of increasing the global competitiveness of Kazakhstani education and science, dwelled on the achievements of Kazakhstani universities in various fields of science, also shared information on the assessment and analysis of QS survey results and subject ranking in areas of training.
