Professor of Oxford University Alexander Morrison delivered a lecture for students of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University

On November 26, 2021, the Department of World History, Historiography and Source Studies of the Faculty of History online through the Zoom platform organized a lecture by Professor of Oxford University, a well-known specialist in the history of Central and South Asia, researcher of the problem of imperialism and colonialism Alexander Morrison for teachers and students of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University on the topic “Comparative analysis of British and Russian colonialism in Central Asia”.

Professor A. Morrison conducted an extended analysis of the colonial policy of the British Empire in South Asia and the Russian Empire in Central Asia, and also made a comparative analysis of the features of British and Russian colonialism. He described in detail and revealed the similarities and differences of the colonial policy of the two empires.

The special lecture was attended by a leading researcher of the Laboratory of Current History and Media of the Russian Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA, Moscow), Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor of Magnitogorsk University M.N. Potemkina and Bulgarian scientist, PhD, Associate Professor Nikolai Vukov, who arrived at the department at the special invitation of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.  It can be noted that this lecture aroused great interest among both teachers and students of Al-Farabi University and foreign scientists. After the lecture, the participants asked many important questions concerning the topics. A. Morrison answered the questions of those present and gave interesting facts and arguments on individual issues.

Assistance to teachers, students, master degree and doctoral students of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, the lecture was attended and actively participated by researchers interested in this topic. At the end of the lecture, the participants expressed gratitude to Professor Alexander Morrison for reading this lecture filled with information and conclusions. Thus, this online lecture by Professor Alexander Morrison was held at the highest level.
