“Science Swiss” exhibition started its activity in al-Farabi Kazakh National University
A “Science Swiss” exhibition started its activity in al-Farabi Kazakh National University on November 28, in the purpose of promotion the scientific relations, as well as conduction of cultural, educational and scientific exchange between Kazakhstan and Switzerland. The exhibition introduces the visitors the works and achievements of Swiss scientists in the sphere of physics, history, astronomy and other directions through photos.
G.M.Mutanov, the Rector of al-Farabi KazNU and Stephan Nellen,Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiaryof Switzerland to Kazakhstan were the main guests of the event. Students and teaching staff took part in the exhibition as well. Stephan Nellen expressed his great joy for the flourishing friendly relations between two countries during the inauguration. In addition, he noted that Switzerland is famous not only for its watches and chocolate, but also for its outstanding scientists. He was very proud to admit that the major of the scientists, represented within the exhibition studied and conducted research in Switzerland. And P.Henka, the professor of the Zurich University surprised everybody with his good knowledge of Kazakh language. He expressed his profound gratitude to the Rector and the administration of
al-Farabi KazNU for great assistance in organization of the exhibition.
The works of 25 scientists are exposed in the format of photographs. Also, the works of remarkable Swiss photographer E.Paul are presented at the exhibition. After the completion of the opening ceremony, G.Mutanov, the University Rector and the foreign guests visited the Museum. The opening ceremony of the exhibition was continued by the lectures of Professor P.Finke, the Director of Social and Cultural Anthropology Department of Zurich University. The exhibition will take place between November 28 and December 9.
