A MEMORANDUM BETWEEN KAZNU AND THE UNIVERSITY OF LONDON
The Chairman of the Board – Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev paid an official visit to the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) the University of London and signed memorandum on mutually beneficial cooperation.
After an introductory campus tour, the rector of KazNU Zhanseit Tuimebayev met with the Director of the SOAS University of London, Adam Habib.
The rector emphasized certain achievements of KazNU: “This year, KazNU has been included in the QS rating of the Asian region of universities and took 44th place. The university is becoming an educational hub of Eurasia, with plans to expand the geography of enrollment from 50 to 100 states, where the main task is to increase the share of foreign students from 10% in 2021 to 25% in 2025. About 500 scientific projects are being implemented on the most important priorities of scientific and technological development of the country. This allows us to make a great contribution to the commercialization of scientific projects and to achieve the practical implementation of innovative projects of our students and employees”.
In his response, Adam Habib spoke about one of the most prestigious public institutions in the UK, which consistently ranks in the top 40 universities in the country and is in the top 5% in the world university ranking. Mr. Adam Habib expressed great interest in a promising partnership with the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and readiness to contribute in every way to the implementation of the agreement.
At the end of the meeting, a memorandum signing ceremony was held that defined the main directions of academic cooperation and exchange between the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and SOAS University of London. Under its terms, the parties will promote the following activities: exchange of scientific materials, publications and information, teaching staff and scientists, students, as well as joint research.
Next, rector also met with representatives of the teaching staff of KazNU that study under the Bolashak program "500 scientists" at King’s College.
As part of the visit of Zhanseit Tuimebayev to London, it is planned to participate in the 9th meeting of the Kazakh-British Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technical and Cultural Cooperation.
