KAZNU EXPANDS DIRECTIONS OF INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION
The Director of the Department of International Cooperation and Internationalization Lyazzat Rysymbetova and the Director of the Department for Youth Work Zhuldyz Yessimova made speeches at the Academic Council of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
Lyazzat Rysymbetova noted that 624 memorandums of cooperation with foreign universities were signed in 2022. Among the signed contracts, 52% were initiated by faculties and 48% by International Cooperation Department. The largest number of agreements have been signed with universities in the CIS and Asia. According to the speaker, KazNU successfully implements the Academic Mobility program with funding from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Overall, 316 students of KazNU of all levels have been trained in foreign universities on academic mobility. According to the number of students who have studied under this program, the following faculties are among the top three: Oriental Studies, Philology, Biology and Biotechnology, Higher School of Economics and Business. Last year, 179 international students were trained, 121 foreign scientists were invited to give lectures and guide scientific and diploma works at KazNU. Lyazzat Rysymbetova mentioned that the department of international cooperation is working and negotiating with foreign embassies to open branches of foreign universities at KazNU.
Lyazzat Rysymbetova acquainted the members of the Academic Council with the work plan, which will contribute to the development of the department's activities. It includes an increase in the number of teaching staff, who are fluent in English, an increase in the number of joint conferences together with foreign partners.
Director of the Department for Youth Work Zhuldyz Yessimova made a presentation on measures to ensure the effective work of advisors of the university. The speaker told in detail about the work of advisors with students, that provides assistance to students from socially vulnerable segments, voiced data and statistics on the situation of students, as well as the results of the winter session.
Chairman of the Board – Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev noted that each department, faculty should develop and strengthen friendly relations with foreign partner universities. "Thanks to friendly relations, it is possible to achieve excellent results in many areas, in particular in scientific and educational activities, including the signing of memoranda on double-degree education, publication of joint scientific articles and the implementation of joint scientific projects" the rector stated.
The rector also instructed the relevant department to additionally prepare all available rooms for students' leisure. The rules and the order of stay must be observed on the campus.v
