Kazakh-German cooperation: Seminar on Sustainable Development at the Department of International Relations

March 29, 2012 graduate and postgraduate students of the department of international relations took part in a training workshop on "Environment and sustainable development: the German and Kazakh experience," which was organized by the Center for German Studies (Center for German Studies) joined with the Ebert Foundation.


During the day, under the leadership of the German assistants 25 people worked on the four thematic blocks: "Politics in the environment in Germany" (Malina Veyndl), "Cross-border management of water resources in Central Asia" (Barbara Janusz), Threats and risks associated with environmental reporting "(Nadine Arendt)," International Legal Issues for Environmental Protection "(Melanie Frank).The format of interactive discussions of complex issues (in Russian and English) allowed participants to identify current problems and prospects of environmental policy in Central Asia and Kazakhstan.

The issues of environmental security, as part the media in disseminating the principles and norms of environmental policy in Germany, as Europe decides to Program "3h20" in 2020. Comments from participants on how to create environmental awareness, especially in the transport sector, has become a subject of debate. Of great interest was the report of the audience on what legal and political conditions are necessary in the management of water resources in Central Asia. The hot discussion led students Faculty of International Relations, the most active - Misina, S., Li Y., A. Yurchenko, Zhakupov D., B. Dosymbekov, Hashimbaev L. et al, which was observed with pleasure the German experts. There was a proposal to continue such a seminar. All participants will be ceremoniously awarded certificates.
