Contemporary journalism is the kaleidoscope of various formats and styles. What hidden threats are awaiting future reporters in this profession? What pros and cons? How to write for a newspaper? How to begin an interview? Answers are hard to find in the classrooms. The practical experience is much needed.
On October 23rd 2008 there was a meeting at KazNU Journalism Faculty with Galiya Shymyrbayeva – the reporter of “Kazahstanskaya pravda” newspaper. Classroom was totally occupied by students, which wanted to speak with the prominent journalist. It is very complicated to have a conversation during internship, because everyone in newspaper has to work, not talk to each other.
Galiya Shymyrbayeva is well-known in Kazakhstani journalism. She started to work being a student. Her experience with “Kazahstanskaya pravda” lasts more than 10 years. She writes about law, morale, social conflicts.
Two hours were spent like two minutes. Galiya Shymyrbayeva talked not only about professional experience, but also about ethic principles, moral goals, etc.
During November 2008 there were “Days of Kazahstanskaya pravda” at KazNU Journalism Faculty. Discussions with leading journalists help to bring student youth closer to practical journalism.
