International scientific-practical conference «Biological diversity and sustainable development of nature and society»
On 12-13 May 2009 «Biological diversity and sustainable development of nature and society» International scientific-practical conference was dedicated to 75th anniversary of KazNU named after al-Farabi and Biology Faculty and was held in accordance with President N.A. Nazarbayev's "Kazakhstan-2030" strategy realization at Biology Faculty.
"Biological diversity of Kazakhstan" photo exhibition, exhibition of universitys scientists' publications as well as presentation reports on sustainable development, biodiversity, water resources, human development etc of UN organisations in Kazakhstan were held at the same time.
More than 350 participants from the near and far abroad represented their reports (USA, France, Egypt, India, Russia, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Ukraine, Dagestan, Lithuania, Bashkortastan).
Vice-rector of KazNU named after al-Farabi Dr N.M. Temirbekov and Dean of the Biology Faculty Prof. T.M. Shalakhmetova gave a speech on the opening ceremony of conference.

9 reports of academics Baitulin I.O., Shigayeva M.Kh, professor M.Danilenko (Ben-Gurion Univerity, Israel), professor Shoyakubov R.Sh. (NNC "Botanika", Tashkent, Uzbekistan), professor Bigaliev A.B., professor Mukhitdinov N.M., professor Zhubanova A.A., Mamonov L.K. (Institute of biology and biotechnology, Almaty) were presented on plenary session.
Meetings were in 4 sections:
58 participants delivered their reports.

Poster paper presentations were presented on 13th of May. 36 poster papers were given in total. Closing of the conference was at the same day. Chairmen of sections prof. Mukhitdinov N.M., prof. Bigaliev A.B., prof. Nurtazin C.T., prof. Tuleukhanov S.T. gave speeches. Conference conclusions were summarized and a vote were carried.

Record currency and timeliness «BIOLOGICAL DIVERSITY AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF NATURE AND SOCIETY» conference which has integrated specialists of different research centers from different regions of Kazakhstan and countries of the near and far abroad for purpose of discussing problems of biological diversity conservation, ecological, social and legal problems, and problems of sustainable development of nature and society 2. Recognize as necessary to conduct combined investigations of different organizations to conserve biological diversity 3. Carry out constant exchange of scientific information on problems of biodiversity conservation, environmental monitoring, devised technologies, which assist disturbed ecosystems restoration. 4. Recognize as necessary co-operation intensity with Ministry of Environment Protection of Republic of Kazakhstan and active participation in announced tenders for conducting of monitoring investigations of region ecosystems assessments. 5. Support close contacts with non-political ecological organizations and associations. 6. Publish plenary reports presented in this conference in «Ecology series» and «Biology series» of "KazNU Bulletin". 7. Conference Materials need to be sent to all big libraries, Universities and research centers of Kazakhstan, research centers of the near abroad, non-political organizations. 8. Recognize as necessary constant holding conferences dedicated to problems of biological diversity conservation. Conference participants are thankful to KazNU administration, Biology Faculty dea's office and Ecology problems research institute directorate of KazNU for supporting organization of this conference. 13 May 2009 «Biological diversity and sustainable development of nature and society» conference articles have been published in 2 volumes. «Kazakh Universiteti» publishing house, 2009, V.1-295 p., V. 2 - 331 p.
