Summer School: Modernization and Conflict in Central Asia
4 - 10 august 2014 at the Faculty of International Relations Al-Farabi Kazakh National University is held International Summer School: "Modernization and conflict in Central Asia» (Modernization and Conflict in Central Asia). Summer School participants are students, undergraduates, doctoral students and young teachers from nine countries, including Germany, Canada, Sweden, China, Mongolia, Central Asian Republics and Kazakhstan.
The aim of the school is to discuss the most pressing issues of the future development of the Central Asian countries in the process of public, political, economic and cultural modernization, which is conducted in conditions of aggravation of contemporary international politics. Summer School consists of 2 modules: 1) expert seminars will Kazakhstani and foreign teachers and 2) statements of the participants with the themes of research. Will also be guest lectures by experts. In the program there meeting with the Сhairman of the Republic of Kazakhstan Agency for Civil Service Affairs Alikhan Baymenov.
Organizers of the project «Modernization and Conflict in Central Asia» are the Institute for Peace Research and Security Policy (IFSH) at the University of Hamburg (Dr. Sebastian Schiek; Azamjon Isabaev); Center for German Studies at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (Prof. Dr. Mara Gubaidullina); Project Coordinator (Kazakhstan) – Elvira Pak. The school is held in jointly cooperation with the Institute for East and Southeast European Studies at Regensburg University. School funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), with financial support from the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
