KazNU scientists discussed the problems of desert regions

In the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University the international scientific-practical conference "Problems of desertification of the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan and ways of their solution" dedicated to the 80th anniversary of candidate of biological sciences, associate professor Abibulla Ametov.

The presentation of the three-volume book "Systematics of Plants" by scientist Abibulla Ametovich was held at the meeting.

The event was attended by state and public figures, biologists, colleagues and contemporaries of Abibulla Ametov, students, faculty and youth of the university.

During the conference was read out a congratulatory letter from the Chairman of the Board-Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebaev. The letter said: "Your long-term scientific and pedagogical activity is closely connected with KazNU. Abibulla Ametovich researched biological science and wrote informative works. The educational institution is proud of its scientist. On your anniversary I wish you good health, prosperity to your family, success in your work".

Also during the conference, the academician of the Higher School of NAS RK, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor Sultan Tuleukhanov, Academician of NAS RK, Professor Amangeldy Bisenbaev, Candidate of Biological Sciences, Associate Professor Talgat Ibragimov and others made speeches.

Abibulla Ametovich worked tirelessly in KazNU for more than 40 years and founded the Department of Botany at the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology. He made a significant contribution to the development of biology and educated many students. Abibulla Ametov is the author of more than 200 scientific works. Today, his textbook "Botany" is taught in all universities of the country.

At the end of the meeting, the jubilee thanked the audience.
