CAPACITY BUILDING SESSION «PREVENTION OF SOCIAL ORPHANHOOD IN ACHIEVING THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS»

On June 2, 2023, the Department of Sociology and Social Work of Faculty of Philosophy and Political Science at al-Farabi Kazakh National University (KazNU) held a session on capacity building titled «Prevention of Social Orphanhood in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals» in a hybrid offline/online format. This session was organized as part of a joint three-year international project between the Department of Sociology and Social Work (KazNU) and the Department of Applied Social Sciences at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU)..

The objective of this session was to discuss and expand the scientific and practical potential in preventing social orphanhood, reducing inequality, and enhancing the social well-being of children within the framework of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. The session brought together representatives from the academic community and practitioners, serving as a platform for discussing research conducted by social work master's and doctoral students.
