New Year of the Countries of the East!
February 9, 2024 at the Faculty of Pre-University Education, on the occasion of the New Year holiday according to the Eastern calendar “New Year of the Countries of the East!” An open curated educational event was held on this topic. The festive event was organized by curators R.S. Turebekova, K.S. Yakubaeva, A.E. Sadenov foreign students studying in groups 11, 13, 14 from China, Korea, Japan, the Philippines, Canada, Turkey and other countries of the Department of Language and General Education Training of Foreigners. During the event, foreign students received information from teachers about the traditions and ways of celebrating the New Year according to the Eastern calendar, as well as the traditions and history of celebrating the New Year in each country, as well as various scenes.
Students from the People's Republic of China told that “Chunjie” or the Spring Festival is a sacred holiday for the Chinese, about the traditions of celebrating the New Year, and that hardworking people who work all year round without a holiday celebrate the Eastern holiday. The New Year lasts up to 40 days. Students recited poems and sang songs in Chinese.
Students from Korea spoke about the traditions of celebrating the New Year in South Korea, about the special tradition of family members getting together to congratulate their elders on the New Year.
